For more than 15 years, Holliday Development has taken on some of the most complex real estate projects in and around the San Francisco Bay Area and developed a portfolio of award-winning properties. Based in Emeryville, California, we specialize in creating livable, workable, and flexible space that meets the needs of a diverse and constantly changing market area. Our goal is to create an inspiring environment where the development envelope is stretched and the imagination engaged. We measure our success by the value, both real and perceived, that we create for our customers, our partners, and our communities.
Holliday Development was the first developer to deliver New York–inspired lofts to San Francisco. Since our 1988 conversion of 601 Fourth Street, a onetime wine-distribution warehouse in the South of Market area, we have developed more than 1,000 homes and lofts and transacted more than $300 million in real estate business. Our portfolio today includes renovated and rehabilitated landmark buildings, such as San Francisco’s Clocktower and 1000 Van Ness Avenue, as well as cutting-edge developments such as the Emeryville Warehouse and Walnut Creek’s Iron Horse Lofts. Historically, the homes we’ve built have appreciated at more than the market rate. In addition, we’ve built 25 percent of our homes as below-market-rate or affordable housing with little public funding.

We work collaboratively on all our projects, teaching and learning from one another and contributing a multitude of skills and resources acquired from many walks of life. We make our work fun and engaging, our environment inspiring. Currently, we’re working on adding nearly 700 new homes to our portfolio, including a warehouse conversion in West Oakland, a townhome project in Emeryville, and a renovation project in Sacramento.
